reset Canon ip4300

Well I have never heard any Canon techs especially from Canon recommend or even say to alternate Canon inks with aftermarket. And yes they all know Canon inks are achohol based inks so are you sure you were taking to Canon or just some repair place? Here in the states I will tell you they could be let go for telling you you can use aftermarket ink.
Also the new archival inks are dye based besides aclohol based. They are called chromacolor 100, meaning they will last 100 years without fade. You do what you want I'm just trying to tell you the way it is. The co I work for is the number 1 repair firm for Canon in the eastern region of the states and number 6 in the US out of over 350 authorized repair centers. We see over 35 printers a month, just under warranty because Canon has them sent to us from all over the country. I have had very few problems with any of the iP4000 series or 5000 for that matter.
I spotted your funning pricing immediately, we have shipped print heads and sheet feed units to the UK many times.
